Recurrent Instability of the Patella (RIP) Score predicts risk of recurrent instability after primary patellar dislocation.
To predict the risk of recurrent instability after primary patellar dislocation.
Use in patients with a first-time patellar dislocation (adults and adolescents). The RIP-score is calculated based on 4 parameters: Age <25 years, skeletal immaturity, dejour A-D dysplasia and TT-TG/PL ≥0.5. Interpretation: RIP Score Risk group Risk of recurrent instability: At 1 year At 2 years At 5 years At 10 years 0-1 Low 0% 0% 0% 0% 2-3 Intermediate 16.7% 27.8% 30.6% 30.6% 4-5 High 15.6% 37.5% 65.6% 79.2%
