Predicts risk of having previously undiagnosed type 2 diabetes.

Use to estimate risk that patient currently has undiagnosed diabetes (i.e., NOT future risk of developing diabetes). Study cohort involved mostly white English patients, so use with caution in other populations. Probability of having T2DM (HgbA1c ≥7.0%) = 1 / (1 + e^(-(α + β1x1 + β2x2 + β3x3 +...+ βnxn) )) Where: α = -6.322, and additional constants and variables are as follows: β x 1. Gender -0.879 0 if Male,1 if Female 2. Prescribed antihypertensive 1.222 0 if No, 1 if Yes medication 3. Prescribed steroids 2.191 0 if No,1 if Yes 4. Age 0.063 Age in years 5. BMI, kg/m2 β5x5= 0 if <25 β5x5= 0.699 if ≥25 and <27.5 β5x5= 1.97 if ≥27.5 and <30 β5x5= 2.518 if ≥30 6. Family history β6x6 = 0 if no diabetic 1st-degree relative β6x6 = 0.728 if parent or sibling with diabetes β6x6 = 0.753 if parent and sibling with diabetes 7. Smoking history β7x7 = 0 if non-smoker β7x7 = -0.218 if ex-smoker β7x7 = 0.855 if current smoker
