To calculate the index for the Veterans Health Administration COVID-19 (VACO) Index for COVID-19 Mortality.

Use to calculate the VACO Index for COVID-19 Mortality. The VACO Index estimates 30-day all cause mortality after COVID-19 infection, incorporating demographic data and pre-existing conditions. The VACO Index can be used to screen uninfected patients to identify those at a higher risk of dying should they develop COID-19. The VACO uses age, sex and the Charlson Comorbidity Index (CCI) as predictives of mortality for the risk model. Since the CCI incorporates a patient's entire spectrum of comorbidities, myocardial infarction (MI) and peripheral vascular disease (PVD) are the other two independent predictors of mortality once the CCI was included. Each demographic parameter, MI or PVD existence and number of CCI elements related to age group are assigned a coefficient, from where three numeric results are calculated: - Coefficient sum: Total sum of Age coefficient + Sex coefficient + CCI_Age coefficient + MI_PVD coefficient + Constant coefficient, - OR calculation (ORcalc): exp(Coefficient sum), - Risk prediction (RISKpred): (ORcalc / (1 + ORcalc))*100.

Not to be used in patient under 20 years old. Not to be used to calculate general mortality risk.
