To assist clinicians to predict the need for head CT after pediatric blunt head injury.

Use in patients <18 years old who have sustained blunt head trauma within the past 24 hours and in whom head CT is being considered. Formula: Addition of selected points. Criteria and assigned points: - Evidence of skull fracture: No=0, Yes=1 - Scalp hematoma: No=0, Yes=1 - Neurologic deficit: No=0, Yes=1 - Abnormal level of alertness: No=0, Yes=1 - Abnormal behavior: No=0, Yes=1 - Persistent vomiting: No=0, Yes=1 - Coagulopathy: No=0, Yes=1 Interpretation: score 0= Low Risk of significant intracranial injuries= Recommendation: CT not necessary (100% sensitive for findings requiring neurosurgical intervention) score>0= High Risk of significant intracranial injuries= Recommendation: Consider CT
