To predict survival in patients with malignant pleural effusion

<p>The LENT Prognostic Score can be used to predict the survival of patients with Malignant pleural effusion. The score is calculated by adding the points of the idividual criteria:</p><table><thead><tr style="text-align:left;"><th>Points</th><th>0</th><th>1</th><th>2</th><th>3</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr style="text-align:left;"><td>Pleural fluid LDH, U/L</td><td>&lt;1500</td><td>≥1500</td><td>--</td><td>--</td></tr><tr style="text-align:left;"><td>ECOG Score</td><td>Asymptomatic</td><td>Symptomatic but ambulatory</td><td>Symptomatic, in bed &lt;50% of day</td><td>Symptomatic, in bed &gt;50% of day or bedbound</td></tr><tr style="text-align:left;"><td>Serum neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio</td><td>&lt;9</td><td>≥9</td><td>--</td><td>--</td></tr><tr style="text-align:left;"><td>Tumor type</td><td>Mesothelioma or hematologic malignancy</td><td>Breast or gynecologic cancer or RCC</td><td>Lung or any other cancer</td><td>--</td></tr></tbody></table><p>Interpretation:</p><table><thead><tr style="text-align:left;"><th>LENT Score</th><th>Risk</th><th>Median survival</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr style="text-align:left;"><td>0-1</td><td>Low</td><td>319 days</td></tr><tr style="text-align:left;"><td>2-4</td><td>Moderate</td><td>130 days</td></tr><tr style="text-align:left;"><td>5-7</td><td>High</td><td>44 days</td></tr></tbody></table>
