To calculate DIRE score and thereby, predict compliance with opioid treatment for chronic noncancer pain.

Evidence on treating chronic noncancer pain is limited. Use best available evidence, alongside clinical judgment, in deciding whether to initiate opioids. The DIRE score for Opioid Treatment is calculated from 7 parameters: Diagnosis, Intractability, Psychological risk, Chemical health risk, Reliability risk, Social support risk and Efficacy. Interpretation: DIRE Score Candidacy for long-term opioid analgesia: 7-13 Not a suitable candidate 14-21 Good candidate
