Used to classify stool form into different categories.

The Bristol stool form scale is used to classify stool form into a finite number of categories. There are seven different stool types: 1. Separate hard lumps, like nuts (hard to pass) 2. Sausage-shaped but lumpy 3. Like a sausage but with cracks on its surface 4. Like a sausage or snake, smooth and soft 5. Soft blobs with clear-cut edges (passed easily) 6. Fluffy pieces with ragged edges, a mushy stool 7. Watery, no solid pieces, entirely liquid The interpretation is as follows: -Types 1-2 are associated with constipation -Types 3-4 are normal -Type 5 is associated with diarrhea to some degree -Types 6-7 are associated with diarrhea
